About Us

God’s Love We Deliver, a nonsectarian organization, is the New York metropolitan area’s leading provider of life-sustaining meals and nutrition counseling for people living with severe illnesses. Begun as an HIV/AIDS service organization, today God’s Love provides for people living with more than 200 individual diagnoses. God’s Love cooks and home delivers the specific, nutritious meals that a client’s severe illness and treatment so urgently require. Meals are individually tailored for each client by one of our Registered Dietitians, and clients have access to unlimited nutrition counseling. God’s Love supports families by providing meals for the children and senior caregivers of its clients. All of the agency’s services are provided free of charge.

About the Role:

The Communications and Media Relations Manager is a key player in a fast-paced Marketing & Communications Department that collaborates closely with all agency departments, especially Philanthropy. The Communications and Media Relations Manager supports all communications strategies and will help raise awareness of God’s Love through public relations, celebrity and influencer activations, on-line and off-line channels, helping to effectively deliver our message to the media, supporters and the public at large. Superb written, verbal and editing skills, along with creativity and impeccable attention to detail will be essential in this role.

  • This is a hybrid position allowing for some remote work and requiring regular in-office workdays.
  • This is a Full-Time exempt position, paying $75,000 – $85,000 annually.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Media Relations:

  • Responsible for overseeing communications to the media, including preparing articles, press kits, press releases, and other content initiatives. Cultivate and manage relationships with media reps.
  • Support spokespeople and coordinate media inquiries’ official responses.
  • In collaboration with external PR company, write pitches, backgrounders, press releases, key messages.
  • Manage and monitor key reporters and outlets, metrics, media relations processes and press release approvals.
  • Propose ideas proactively for media pitches to stimulate media coverage.
  • Manage and supervise media events along with initiatives supporting company goals.
  • Develop and maintain close media relations to improve press efforts.
  • Convey media inquiries via apt channels internally and coordinate fact-finding efforts in collaboration with Director.
  • Support framing and development of main message points for positioning prior to media interviews.
  • Prepare speeches, talking points and other communications materials assisting spokespeople.
  • Collaborate with PR company and Director to prepare plan for strategic crisis communications.
  • Identify celebrities, influencers, and brands for promotion/collaboration/activations opportunities.
  • Seek opportunities to activate, grow, and collaborate with Culinary Council to create media-worthy press moments.

Communications:

  • Develop written and visual content for both print and online media, including newsletters, brochures, annual reports, event invitations, emails, flyers, posters, banners, stationery, postcards, etc. As necessary, engage in copywriting, editing, securing photos, and working with consultants or freelancers.
  • Generate content for and monitor the God’s Love presence on social media including writing posts (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, etc.)
  • Assist in digital fundraising campaigns in collaboration with Director.
  • Work closely with the Philanthropy team to build strong community support for fundraising programs.
  • Represent God’s Love to internal and external partners to grow and maintain key relationships.
  • Help plan marketing for events, promoting in social, print, and earned media.
  • Attend events to document and promote on social.
  • Participate in agency events and cultivation activities as needed.
  • Other duties in support of organizational communications goals as assigned.

About You:

You are a highly self-motivated and enthusiastic communications professional with a strong desire to provide support to clients living with a serious illness. You are looking for a collaborative, team-oriented environment. You are energized by turning information and client stories into engaging and shareable material across media.

In addition, you meet the following requirements:   

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of deep media and communications experience.
  • Experience maintaining website and implementation of new content or layout (WordPress).
  • Strong expertise with Adobe Creative Cloud (Acrobat, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), Premiere Pro, Canva, Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, a project management system like Monday.com.
  • Strong experience with WordPress, PageProof, Raiser’s Edge.
  • Design fluency and expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and Canva.
  • Willingness to conceptualize fresh, compelling ideas to convey the God’s Love Mission and Brand aesthetic.
  • Demonstrated work quality, attention to detail, creativity, and consistency of work product quality, including proofreading, grammar, and spelling.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to multi-task and self-prioritize.
  • Proven ability to function effectively and cohesively as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain a positive and energetic attitude during challenging situations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
