Communications Coordinator

About God’s Love We Deliver

For people living with severe illness in the New York City metropolitan area, God’s Love We Deliver provides nutrition therapy, and cooks and home delivers medically tailored meals. We are a non-sectarian organization. All of our services are provided free to clients and full of love.

About the Role

The Communications Coordinator will join a fast-paced Communications Department that collaborates closely with all agency departments, especially Development. The Communications Coordinator supports all communications strategies and will help raise awareness of God’s Love through on-line and off-line channels, helping to effectively deliver our message to the media, supporters and the public at large. Superb written, verbal and editing skills, along with creativity and impeccable attention to detail will be essential in this role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops written and visual content for both print and online media, including newsletters, brochures, annual reports, event invitations, emails, flyers, posters, banners, stationery, postcards, etc. Includes copywriting, editing, securing photos, and working with consultants or freelancers when necessary.
  • Generates content for and monitors God’s Love presence on social media including writing posts (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, etc.)
  • Contributes to the God’s Love website, including adding new content and design updates.
  • Assists with video projects.
  • Coordinates production schedules with designers, photographers, printers, videographers, etc.
  • Creates press releases and talking points, as needed.
  • Responds to and coordinates media opportunities, including requests for interviews.
  • Measures and reports on the performance of digital campaigns and online content.
  • Updates materials for and builds media packets.
  • Works closely with the Development team to build strong community support for fundraising programs.
  • Represents God’s Love to internal and external partners to grow and maintain key relationships.
  • Supports storytelling efforts by interviewing clients and volunteers with the intent to publish stories in blog, photo, and video format.
  • Updates client and volunteer storybank.
  • Participates in agency events and cultivation activities as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

About You:

You are highly self-motivated and enthusiastic communications professional with a strong desire to provide support to clients living with a serious illness. You are looking for a collaborative, team-oriented environment.  You are energized by turning information into engaging and shareable stories and posts.

In addition, you meet the following requirements:   

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 1-3 years of communications experience.
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Fluency across social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram)
  • Demonstrated success in driving engagement across social media and website platforms
  • Superb attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively orally and in writing.
  •  Ability to organize, manage and complete multiple tasks in a high-volume, time-sensitive environment.
  • Team player committed to the mission of God’s Love We Deliver.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Proficiency in Adobe Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere Pro) a plus.
  • Experience with Google Analytics, Constant Contact, and WordPress a plus
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of current trends in digital media/social media
