About Us

God’s Love We Deliver, a nonsectarian organization, is the New York metropolitan area’s leading provider of life-sustaining meals and nutrition counseling for people living with severe illnesses. Begun as an HIV/AIDS service organization, today God’s Love provides for people living with more than 200 individual diagnoses. God’s Love cooks and home delivers the specific, nutritious meals a client’s severe illness and treatment so urgently require. Meals are individually tailored for each client by one of our Registered Dietitian Nutritionists, and clients have access to unlimited nutrition counseling. God’s Love supports families by providing meals for the children and senior caregivers of our clients. All of our services are provided free of charge to clients.

About the Role:

The Creative Director of Events plays a leading role in conceptualizing and executing all of God’s Love Signature events.  Working closely with the events team including the Director of Events.  The Creative Director of Events is responsible for the “look and feel” of events ensuring they are always “on brand”, as well as the financial success of the events. Reporting directly to the President & CEO, the Director is “the face” of events to the external world.  This is a high visibility role with significant P&L responsibility.

  • This is a hybrid position allowing for some remote work and requiring regular in-office workdays.
  • This is a Full-Time exempt position, paying $100,000-$115,000 annually.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create the event concept and design for signature, partner, and internal events, working closely with Marketing/Communications and Philanthropy teams to establish strategy, creation, and execution of events from a 360 perspective.
  • Develop, track, and own sales objectives for each event.  Partner with participants regarding any pricing, sponsorship, and sales inquiries.  Develop new and existing sponsorship partners for signature, partner, and internal events to help increase event revenue.
  • Event design responsibilities including but not limited to event logistics, venue site inspections and selections, vendor sourcing, risk management and contingency planning, contract negotiation, obtaining permits when needed, creative design and development for décor elements, onsite event execution, post-event surveys and de-briefs, etc.
  • Oversee and manage the RFP process for special projects as assigned.  Follow internal organizational procedures including requesting RFPs, processing of vendor contracts, and payments.
  • Maintain high quality relationships with existing vendors, and research new ones who can provide cost-effective and creative services that meet organizational standards.
  • Manage talent, speakers, and entertainment.
  • Work closely with all GLWD longstanding external partners.
  • Establish event KPIs and OKRs.
  • Prepare and manage event budgets and workback schedules.
  • Oversee invoices and tracking of all expenses accordingly.
  • Work closely with Marketing/Communications teams to develop promotional plan, marketing assets, and event materials.
  • Interface with leadership groups, donors, volunteers, Event Chairs, and committees.
  • Design multiple events at any given time.
  • Onsite event management and execution including logistics documents, schedules, registration, set-up, tear-down, run-of-show, etc.
  • Collect data and information from internal and external sources to create and present a thorough post-event analysis, reporting on ROI and key learnings.
  • Provide leadership and direction to team of direct reports.

In addition, you meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ relevant, full scope event planning experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to quickly build rapport with colleagues and stakeholders, donors, leadership, community, etc.
  • Proactive with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience in project management and budgeting.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making and analytical capabilities with excellent attention to detail; strategic thinker.
  • Flexibility to adapt quickly to changing circumstances; able to proactively question and challenge to prioritize and identify solutions in timely manner.
  • Enthusiasm, creativity, innovation and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Curious in nature and always looking to question, learn, and look for better ways to do things.
  • Ability and willingness to shift between managing the process and providing “hands-on” work to ensure things get done.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Maintain a high degree of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Familiarity with a non-profit/fundraising organization is considered an asset.
  • Must be willing to work off-hours as required, including evenings or weekends during event times.
  • Expert proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • A valid NYS driver’s license preferred.
