About Us

God’s Love We Deliver, a nonsectarian organization, is the New York metropolitan area’s leading provider of life-sustaining meals and nutrition counseling for people living with severe illnesses. Begun as an HIV/AIDS service organization, today God’s Love provides for people living with more than 200 individual diagnoses. God’s Love cooks and home delivers the specific, nutritious meals a client’s severe illness and treatment so urgently require. Meals are individually tailored for each client by one of our Registered Dietitians, and all clients have access to unlimited nutrition counseling. God’s Love supports families by providing meals for the children and senior caregivers of its clients. All of the agency’s services are provided free of charge.

About the Role

The Development Associate will join a fast-paced fundraising department of Development and Events professionals, and will help cultivate, monitor, and maintain the best possible relationships between God’s Love and its donors. The individual in this role will write, document, and send acknowledgment letters for gifts, including gifts from board members, major donors, event sponsors, and other VIPs. The individual in this role will work with Development staff as well as other staff, donors, volunteers, new and potential partners, and other community members to raise awareness of our work, build support for our programs, and grow important donor relationships. Strong writing and editing skills as well as database and Microsoft suite skills and impeccable attention to detail will be essential in this role.

  • This is a hybrid position allowing for some remote work and requiring regular in-office workdays.
  • This is a Full-Time exempt position, paying $65,000-$72,000 annually.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Utilize Raiser’s Edge; identify new gifts – produce acknowledgment letters for key donors, Corporate and Foundation Giving.
  • Write, edit, print letters for executive signature, print envelopes, and mail letters for timely acknowledgment of gifts. Ensure accuracy, relevance, and appropriateness of each letter. Thoroughly and accurately document the gift acknowledgment process in the database. Maintain the letter archive.
  • Work with Finance to ensure proper tracking of gifts and donor data, and to ensure timely acknowledgment of gifts.
  • Create and manage acknowledgment boilerplate language while also personalizing and editing letters to note donor traits such as increased giving, renewed giving, special purpose giving, and service as a Volunteer or member of a leadership group (Board, Chairman’s Council, Leadership Council).
  • Oversee the Holiday Tribute Card Program.
  • Provide administrative support for the Food Is Medicine Coalition (FIMC) including scheduling meetings and providing agenda four times a year.
  • Manage agenda for weekly staff meetings.
  • Assist with cultivation activities for board, leadership, the Golden Heart Society, genLOVE, and other constituencies, with tasks including but not limited to appeal letters, event invitations, and prospect research.
  • Contribute to management of donor data, records, and reports using Raiser’s Edge.
  • Manage routine donor communications, including phone and e-mail inquiries, contributions, gift processing issues, special orders, general donor cultivation, and other correspondence as needed.
  • Conduct follow-up with donors regarding gift-processing issues and special orders.
  • Manage inventory for development team including stationery and newsletters.
  • Write, edit, and proofread other agency materials as needed (donor emails, newsletter content, Web content, etc).
  • Assist with departmental activities related to direct mail, newsletter, catalog, donor cultivation, corporate/partner events and promotions, special events, and other projects
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 3 years of fast-paced non-profit fundraising and/or development experience.
  • Candidates must be detail-oriented and possess ability to plan, prioritize, and carry out a wide variety of projects
  • Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and clearly both orally and in writing with diverse audiences—donors, trustees, volunteers, and coworkers.
  • Superior attention to detail
  • Must be able to operate effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Strategic mindset with an ability to think and focus on both the near- and long-term.
  • Superior time management skills with the ability to work effectively under deadlines.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, Outlook) required, experience with Raiser’s Edge preferred.
