About the Role

We are seeking a temporary Human Resources Partner through December 2020. This role will cover the parental leave of one of our current HR Partners, and will overlap with that colleague for 4 – 8 weeks prior to the start of her leave.   As of the time of this job posting, the HR team is alternating days working from home and working from the office.

The HR Partner will be part of a three-person full-service HR team managing HR needs across the employment life cycle including recruitment, benefits administration, HRIS/payroll data entry and reporting, and employee relations matters. The Human Resources Partner provides day to day HR support to managers and staff.

Position Objectives and Expectations

  • Benefits Management: Conduct Benefits Orientation and enroll employees across our benefits platform; respond to inquiries from employees; coordinate Open Enrollment including review of renewal data; manage vendor invoices; assist employees with filing applications for Short Term Disability, Worker’s Compensation reports, etc.

 

  • HRIS/Payroll: Responsible for HR data integrity in HRIS/payroll system; ensure all HR and payroll data is entered timely and accurately; review and execute garnishments; respond to employee inquiries about payroll matters; shepherd and process requests for salary advances; produce reports from HRIS/payroll system including to support annual 403(b) audits and EEO reporting

 

  • Recruiting: Maintain up to date job descriptions; draft job postings; pre-screen resumes and conduct initial candidate interviews; schedule interviews with hiring Manager and others; prepare offer documents; ensure all New Hire paperwork is completed in a timely and compliant fashion; participate in facilitation of New Hire Orientation

 

  • Employee Relations: Counsel and assist employees with employment-related questions/concerns including leave of absence and reasonable accommodation requests, and concerns about discrimination or harassment; counsel and advise Managers regarding employment-related matters including performance management, disciplinary action, terminations, use of accrued time off, avoiding discrimination and harassment, interpretation of employment policies and processes

In addition, you meet the following requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree
  • Two to four years of HR generalist experience with exposure to the full employment life cycle
    • Deep expertise in benefits and compensation management is a plus
  • Deep expertise in HRIS systems
    • Expertise in ADP Workforce Now is preferred
  • Knowledge of federal, local (NYC) and state (New York) employment laws
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint) and creating mail merges
  • Capable of prioritizing multiple demands and exercising strong time management skills with acute attention to detail; work with a sense of urgency without sacrificing quality
  • Ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality and discretion, and to exercise good judgment
  • Ability to be empathetic yet direct, with excellent listening skills
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
  • Ability to communicate confidently with employees at every level
