About Us

God’s Love We Deliver, a nonsectarian organization, is the New York metropolitan area’s leading provider of life-sustaining meals and nutrition counseling for people living with severe illnesses. Begun as an HIV/AIDS service organization, today God’s Love provides for people living with more than 200 individual diagnoses. God’s Love cooks and home delivers the specific, nutritious meals a client’s severe illness and treatment so urgently require. Meals are individually tailored for each client by one of our Registered Dietitian Nutritionists, and clients have access to unlimited nutrition counseling. God’s Love supports families by providing meals for the children and senior caregivers of our clients. All of our services are provided free of charge to clients.

About the Role:

The Manager of Philanthropy, Engagement is responsible for managing, developing, and executing annual plans aimed at expanding the God’s Love We Deliver Young Hearts program. This program uniquely combines stewardship and fundraising to involve children of major donors and prospects in community service. The Manager of Philanthropy, Engagement will cultivate and solicit major gifts of $1,000 and above from both existing and prospective donors. Additionally, they will actively participate in our philanthropic events program and collaborate with various stakeholders to achieve fundraising goals. The portfolio of the Manager of Philanthropy, Engagement (150-250+) will encompass Young Hearts donors and other supporters of God’s Love. Prospecting and engaging new donors is a critical aspect of this role as we seek to broaden our base of annual and event donors through this innovative program.

  • This is a Full-Time exempt position, paying $75,000 – $95,000 annually.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Young Hearts program, including event planning, volunteer coordination, engagement with partner schools, donor meetings, goal setting, and program growth initiatives.
  • Execute all Young Hearts programming in collaboration with the God’s Love Events, Operations, Volunteer, and Philanthropy departments, including all Young Hearts volunteer pack-outs, the annual fundraiser Young Hearts Friends Fest, and other events as needed. Manage the Young Hearts organizing committee and event host committee. May include managing Board members with a deep interest in Young Hearts.
  • Develop strategies to attract new donors and establish a robust portfolio of major donors, including Young Hearts. Work with Chief Philanthropy Officer, Director of Philanthropy, Individual Giving, and other frontline fundraisers to develop strategies for large gifts of $10,000 or more.
  • Conduct monthly meetings with senior staff to review Young Hearts progress.
  • Research, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of major donors and other prospects to achieve annual fundraising objectives of $4M+ for the overall major giving program at God’s Love.
  • Work directly with donors to solicit gifts and build strong community support for programs at God’s Love. Identify and implement strategies within the major donor program to involve major donors and Young Hearts donors and prospects in fundraising, marketing, and volunteer activities.
  • Represent God’s Love to internal and external partners to grow and maintain key relationships, with a focus on the Young Hearts program.
  • Conduct research on other child-friendly volunteer activities at other organizations with the goal of building and improving the Young Hearts program.
  • Participate in God’s Love major donor events, including but not limited to our six annual signature events, including planning, staffing, stewardship, prospecting, and data collection.
  • Track gifts and maintain accurate records in Raiser’s Edge NXT for all gifts, event attendance and relationships. Work with development administrative staff to ensure prompt acknowledgement of all gifts related to Young Hearts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

In addition, the right candidate meets the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a fast-paced nonprofit philanthropy role.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience personally soliciting individual major gifts.
  • Proven success working within a Development/Philanthropy department; special events experience is a plus.
  • Experience working in a major gifts environment that frequently utilizes special events is a plus.
  • Enthusiasm for working with children and families.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Superior attention to detail.
  • Operates effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Demonstrates superior time management skills with the ability to work effectively under, and consistently meet, deadlines, and adapt priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Available evenings and weekends for donor visits and events as needed.
  • Raiser’s Edge NXT and Microsoft Office proficiency are a must.
