Part-Time Registered Dietician – Culinary

About God’s Love We Deliver

For people living with severe illness in the New York City metropolitan area, God’s Love We Deliver provides nutrition therapy, and cooks and home delivers medically tailored meals. We are a non-sectarian organization. All of our services are provided free to clients and full of love.

About the Role

Coordinates agency food safety and sanitation protocols including monitoring, training, and quality control. Plans and reviews menu system to ensure meals provided meet nutrition standards and changing needs of clients. Provides nutrition education and counseling to clients with serious illnesses, their families, and caregivers.

Position Objectives and Expectations

Menu

  • Ensure God’s Love nutrition standards align with the most up-to-date evidence-based research and FIMC standards.
  • Work with Executive Chef and Director of Nutrition Services to develop menu innovations to meet the changing needs of clients.
  • Coordinate with Executive Chef and Director of Nutrition Services on recipe development, standardization, and analysis.
  • Maintain and update menu standards, menu templates, menu book, internal and external menu displays, ingredient/allergen lists for the team and clients.
  • Coordinate with Executive Chef and Director of Nutrition to assist with placement of new menu items in to menu planner.
  • Work interdepartmentally to increase sustainable food purchasing.

 Food Safety

  • Continuously update the agency’s Food Safety and Sanitation Manual.
  • Work with Culinary Team and Director of Nutrition Services to monitor food service operations to ensure conformance to nutritional, safety, sanitation, and quality standards.
  • Develop curriculum and materials used in teaching food safety to staff and volunteers.
  • Conduct trainings for staff and volunteers and create educational materials for various groups.
  • Monitor food safety throughout the delivery system: kitting, delivery through centers, and vans providing intra-agency support as needed.

Nutrition Education and Counseling

  • Provide client consultations for menu content questions related to allergies and preferences.
  • Conduct meal questionnaires to various populations of clients on a rotating basis.
  • May provide nutrition education and counseling to clients with serious illnesses, their families, and caregivers.

Other

  • Precepts Dietetic Interns and supervises student volunteers. Other duties as assigned.

About You:

You are highly self-motivated and empathetic, with a strong desire to support our mission of helping clients living with a serious illness. You are looking for a collaborative, team-oriented environment, and you are energized by working in a fast-paced environment requiring you to frequently exercise your strong guest relations skills.

In addition, you meet the following requirements:

  • BS (MS preferred) in Nutrition Science with an emphasis on community nutrition, public health and/or nutrition education; and a minimum of five years related experience in the field of nutrition or dietetics.
  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) – maintenance of current registration required.
  • NYS Department of Health Qualifying Certificate in Food Protection.
  • Demonstrates superior attention to detail.
  • Operates effectively as part of a team and independently
