About Us

God’s Love We Deliver, a nonsectarian organization, is the New York metropolitan area’s leading provider of life-sustaining meals and nutrition counseling for people living with severe illnesses. Begun as an HIV/AIDS service organization, today God’s Love provides for people living with more than 200 individual diagnoses. God’s Love cooks and home delivers the specific, nutritious meals a client’s severe illness and treatment so urgently require. Meals are individually tailored for each client by one of our Registered Dietitian Nutritionists, and clients have access to unlimited nutrition counseling. God’s Love supports families by providing meals for the children and senior caregivers of our clients. All of our services are provided free of charge to clients.

About the Role:

The Seasonal (Temporary) Philanthropy Associate provides administrative assistance to support the daily operations of the Philanthropy Department at God’s Love We Deliver. The Seasonal (Temporary) Philanthropy Associate assists our Major and Individual Gift Officers in expanding our donor portfolios through research, customer service and outreach, collaborating with Philanthropy team members, and other stakeholders to achieve fundraising goals.  This is a full-time temporary position ending January 31, 2025.

  • This is a Full-Time exempt position, paying $2425.00 bi-weekly.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administer stewardship operations within the Philanthropy department, including but not limited to, inventory of swag items, facilitation of donor birthday brownie program, and all other department brownie requests. Assist with gratitude program to thank donors, including running reports, making calls, and writing cards.
  • Provide administrative support to the Philanthropy team by booking meetings, organizing room reservations, food orders, and other event logisticss.
  • Manage routine donor communications, including phone and e-mail inquiries, contributions, special orders, general donor cultivation, returned mail, gift-processing issues and other correspondence as needed. Respond to inquiries and requests from donors and prospective donors. Manage the Philanthropy email and phone inboxes. Handle inquiries and forward necessary emails and calls to appropriate team members.
  • Conduct comprehensive research on individual donors to identify potential major gift prospects. Analyze and synthesize information from various sources to create detailed donor profiles, including wealth indicators, philanthropic interests, and giving capacity. Stay informed about current philanthropic trends and best practices in fundraising to enhance the quality and relevance of donor research.
  • Collaborate with the Philanthropy team to identify and prioritize new prospects. Utilize prospect research tools and databases to qualify prospects based on their capacity, inclination, and connection to our mission.
  • Contribute to management of donor data, records, and reports using Raiser’s Edge & NXT in coordination with the Database Manager.
  • Support the Philanthropy team on its efforts to engage donors through our major donor program (The Golden Heart Society) and planned giving program (The Legacy Society).
  • Write, edit, and proofread other agency materials as needed (donor emails, newsletter content, Web content, etc.).
  • Provide administrative support for God’s Love volunteer leadership, including scheduling meetings, providing agendas, and taking notes during meetings.
  • Work with Finance department to ensure proper tracking of gifts and donor data, and to ensure timely acknowledgment of gifts.
  • Serve as backup on donor acknowledgement processes as needed during busy times.
  • Participate in and assist with agency events, Philanthropy events, and in-person cultivation activities as needed; represent God’s Love at off-site events as needed (some evening and weekend hours).
  • Attend relevant training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Communicate effectively with donors, volunteers, staff, and other stakeholders in the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.

In addition, the right candidate meets the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of fast-paced nonprofit development experience. Experience supporting special events is strongly preferred.
  • Superior attention to detail.
  • Must be able to operate effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Superior time management skills with the ability to work effectively under deadlines.
  • Strategic mindset with an ability to think and focus on both the near- and long-term.
  • Adapts to changes in a fast-paced work environment and deals easily with unexpected events.
  • Available on some evenings and weekends for events as needed.
  • Raiser’s Edge NXT and Microsoft Office proficiency
