About the Role

The Senior Director of Fulfillment and Logistics is responsible for ensuring efficient, safe, and high-quality warehousing, packaging, and delivery of God’s Love We Deliver meals to our clients across the NY metro area. This role is critical to our mission of bringing nutritious, delicious meals to some of New York’s most vulnerable residents. You’ll supervise a large budget, a fleet of 25 vans, and a combined team of 30 people in a variety of challenging roles, while collaborating effectively with organization leadership and crafting a strong future for the fulfillment function.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Delivery operations
• Oversee a team of drivers and delivery management (customer service, dispatch, routing, team management) ensuring safe, secure delivery to 1,000 doors a day across the NY metro area.
• Team purview includes routing, dispatch, and internal and external customer service.
• Ensure efficient routing, load balancing, and scheduling across the team.
• Work with team lead to identify and implement key cost and quality improvements in areas such as fuel efficiency and delivery windows.
• Ensure regular and effective maintenance of our fleet of refrigerated vans.
• Monitor, report on, and adjust to internal (team) and external (client) feedback.

Warehousing and packaging
• Oversee a team of packaging specialists and their manager in putting together the customized meal assortments for 1,000 clients each day.
• Ensure accurate forecasting and kitchen requests; make sure inventory is properly stored before being packed and while waiting for delivery.
• Work with team lead to identify key cost savings and quality improvements in areas such as freezer space and packaging materials.
• Monitor, report on, and adjust to internal (team) and external (client) feedback.

• Work with COO to define optimal fulfillment and logistics strategies and operations.
• Use data-driven analysis to set and monitor key performance indicators and identify trends across fulfillment operations.
• Define implementation plan for continuous improvement experiments and projects, from team size and composition to improved workflows to possible distribution centers or methods.
• Collaborate with internal teams such as facilities management, IT, and client support to ensure we’re serving our clients in the best possible way.
• Lead budget development and monitoring for fulfillment and logistics area.

Team management
• Recommend and implement team structure and hiring, set standards and performance management, and create professional development opportunities and career tracking.
• Set overall schedule and shift management, including ensuring tasks are fairly and efficiently allocated across the team.
• Maintain a best-in-class culture and a highly engaged workforce.
• Integrate the fulfillment team—many of whom spend their working time offsite—into the life of the organization.

QA and data
• Define, regularly execute, and report on quality assurance checks on product and procedures.
• Ensure a high-quality workspace and tools, from freezer organization to minor equipment to fleet management.
• Work with program strategy and business intelligence unit to set and hit key performance measures, such as client satisfaction and missed delivery rate.

The right candidate has:

• 5+ years of relevant fulfillment or logistics operations experience, including but not limited to warehouse, distribution center, fulfillment center, or supply chain management.
• Demonstrated experience building efficient processes and systems that scale well.
• Ability to operate in a fast-paced fulfillment center environment which could include standing for extended period of times, exposure to hot and cold temperatures, the operation of commercial machinery and the movement of heavy loads.
• Willingness to support a variety of shifts as needed, potentially including evenings or weekends.
