Social Media Intern (Paid Position)

The Food Network & Cooking Channel New York City Wine & Food Festival presented by Capital One (“NYCWFF”)  is NYC’s largest wine and food festival raising funds to support New Yorkers affected by severe illness and food poverty. NYCWFF features close to 80 events throughout four days attracting over 50,000 consumers and over 500 world-renowned chefs, culinary personalities, winemakers, spirits producers, trade and industry professionals.

100% of the Festival’s net proceeds benefit two hunger relief organizations; God’s Love We Deliver and Food Bank For New York City. Having raised over $13.8MM to date, NYCWFF is gearing up to plan another successful event which will be held October 14-17, 2021.

God’s Love We Deliver, a nonsectarian organization, is the New York metropolitan area’s leading provider of life-sustaining meals and nutrition counseling for people living with severe illnesses. Begun as an HIV/AIDS service organization, today God’s Love provides for people living with more than 200 individual diagnoses. God’s Love cooks and home delivers the specific, nutritious meals a client’s severe illness and treatment so urgently require. Meals are individually tailored for each client by one of our Registered Dietitians, and all clients have access to unlimited nutrition counseling. God’s Love supports families by providing meals for the children and senior caregivers of its clients. All of the agency’s services are provided free of charge.

About the Role

This is a paid internship with God’s Love We Deliver supporting the New York City Wine & Food Festival (NYCWFF).  The intern must be available to work (30 hours per week) May– October 2021 and must be available [full time] the week of the Festival itself: October 13-17, 2021.

The Social Media Intern will work closely with NYCWFF’s marketing department to support the Festival’s social media strategy to increase followers, engagements, and ticket sales.


Position Objectives and Expectations

  • Support the development, implementation, and day-to-day management of the Festival’s social media strategy to increase followers, engagements, and ticket sales, leading up to and during the Festival. Maintain the promotional calendar.
  • Help collect, curate and execute all social media content (copy, images, and video) and social media campaigns. Execute social media coverage and coordination during the Festival.
  • Utilize social media management tools to track, analyze and report on content posted for the Festival and its many sponsors and partners.
  • Assist in Influencer outreach and communications.
  • Develop and facilitate materials to encourage all participating chefs, sponsors, and partners to promote the Festival.
  • Social listening: Interact and engage with consumers in real-time on various social media platforms.
  • Research and track emerging digital trends, best practices, and social features to leverage brand opportunities.
  • Track, screenshot, and document all content performance for sponsor and Festival reporting.
  • Miscellaneous daily tasks throughout all areas of marketing. Responsibilities could include website updates, back-end support for Festival media partners, photography and videography production support prior to and during Festival weekend.

You have a passion for food, wine, and the NYC dining scene, and the desire to learn the ins and outs of marketing a world-renowned event through social media.  You enjoy seeing all of your hard work come to fruition.  In addition, you are highly self-motivated and empathetic, a ‘people person’ with a strong desire to support the mission of NYCWFF providing for New Yorkers affected by severe illness and food poverty through God’s Love We Deliver and Food Bank For New York City.. You thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

In addition, the right candidate meets the following requirements:

  • Available full time from May– October 2021 (must be available October 13-17, during NYCWFF)
  • Based in NYC
  • Previous experience and/or internship with social media, understanding of social media platforms and how to use them
  • Good eye for delicious food photos
  • Possess a genuine interest in learning about the NYC food scene
  • Excellent writer with the ability to tailor social messaging to various audiences
  • Ability to shoot shareworthy food photography and interest in improving the skillset
  • Experience with third-party Social Media platforms and management tools is a plus (i.e., Sprout Social, Later, HootSuite, Reposter)
  • Innovative, highly organized, independent, attention to detail, and a creative self-starter who is comfortable prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines
  • Passion for and understanding of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, emerging platforms, and social media tracking tools
