Important Protocol Update

If God’s Love becomes aware of a COVID-positive test result of any staff member or volunteer who has had contact with other volunteers, God’s Love will implement the appropriate contact tracing procedure to notify those people who may have been exposed.

Responding to the Coronavirus: Volunteer Protocol

UPDATED ON April 13, 2021:

Dear Community,

At this time, we are looking for volunteers on every shift throughout the week. All of our shifts are listed online where you can view and SIGN UP to volunteer (here). If you are not feeling well or have any concerns about volunteering PLEASE DO NOT VOLUNTEER NOW.

Our volunteer needs are fluid and updated in real-time, so if you don’t see what you’re looking for, please check back later.

As more information is provided and guidelines are put into place by the state and local governments, we are making adjustments to our operations. If you are volunteering with us, you will notice the following changes.

In addition to the protocols described, we have implemented the following additional protocols:

  • If you answer “yes” to any of these questions or have a fever of 100.4 or higher according to our temperature kiosk, you should not enter God’s Love. The Volunteer Department or staff member expecting them will reach out to them later in the day to discuss next steps related to the reason for their visit.
    • Have you or any members of your household, exhibited any of the following symptoms in the past 14 days?
      • Fever or chills
      • Cough
      • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
      • Fatigue
      • Muscle or body aches
      • Headache
      • New loss of taste or smell
      • Sore throat
      • Congestion or runny nose
      • Nausea or vomiting
      • Diarrhea
  • Have you or any members of your household received a COVID-positive test in the past 14 days

Volunteering and travel:

As of April 10, 2021, New York State no longer requires asymptomatic travelers to quarantine upon their return from either domestic or international travel.

New York State does recommend that all unvaccinated travelers — and all fully vaccinated international travelers — who have not recovered from COVID-19 in the past 3 months get tested 3-5 days after arrival in New York, consider non-mandated self-quarantine (7 days if tested on day 3-5, otherwise 10 days), and avoid contact with people at higher risk for severe disease for 14 days, regardless of test result.

When volunteering:

  • All volunteers  must sanitize your hands after being signed in for your shift and will be required to wash your hands before and after all volunteer shifts.
  • To help with social distancing, volunteers are asked to check in a maximum of 15 minutes before their scheduled shifts. If you arrive more than 30 minutes early, you may be asked to wait to enter the building.
  • During this time, we ask that volunteers remain in the building for a maximum of 15 minutes past the end of their shift.
  • We are practicing social distancing. Volunteers will be spread out while on projects, and we will be limiting the number of volunteers to the absolute minimum required to complete the work for every shift.
  • All volunteers MUST wear masks at all times. Volunteers will receive one mask per day when they arrive for their shift. If you have your own mask and want to wear it while working at God’s Love, you may do so assuming it is clean (either a new disposable mask, or a reusable mask that has been properly sterilized).
  • A staff member is ensuring all volunteers are practicing social distancing at all times.

Please know how grateful we are for your ongoing and caring commitment to our clients and mission. If you have any questions or concerns, please email the Volunteer Department at

From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you.
