Anthony Manal Castro (b. 1963 in Romblon, Philippines, grew up in San Jose, California ) lives and works in Brooklyn, NY He received his BFA/Painting at San Jose State University and MFA /Painting at the Claremont Graduate University.  Not certain if he would remain in Los Angeles, an opportunity arose to travel to Prague, CZ and just “hang out” for the summer. That summer eventually turned into a year stint of hustling murals for dance clubs, and producing art out of his flat while getting immersed in the contemporary Czech culture before landing in the East Village. That period was pivotal for his future commercial work creating art and design for interior, retail and hospitality environments that continues today. Always inspired by the psychological, sociological and physical spaces of the city, Castro has in recent years devoted himself to exploring a personal visual language through his art by producing various permutations of patterns and complex abstractions that drifts between the present, the future and the past.
