About Darvin Silva
Darvin Silva (b. 1980, Cali, Colombia) is a New York based painter whose work explores the relationships between line, shape and color. Inspired by the Color Field artists of the 1950’s and 60’s, Silva’s abstract compositions express a dedication to form that refuses gesture in an effort to remove the perception of the artist’s hand entirely. Across his work, Silva carefully layers several coats of paint, a practice of precision that evokes the meditative repetition of music. After spending 16 years DJing throughout New York, Los Angeles and around the world, Silva’s work evokes his sonic sensibilities, simplifying the chaos of the world through a melodic almost obsessive approach to painting.
