Our volunteer opportunities at God's Love We Deliver are for individuals aged 18 and up.
16 and 17 year olds are able to volunteer on our MEAL KIT ASSEMBLY shift as long as their parent/guardian accompanies and also volunteers with them.
God's Love We Deliver is located at 166 Avenue of the Americas on the corner of Spring Street. We are right above the C/E train at the Spring Street station. For other nearby subway lines, check out MTA Trip Planner.
Kitchen dress code is very important to ensure the safety of our volunteers as well as preserve the quality of the food. Clothing must completely cover shoulders, underarms, knees and toes. Long sleeves must be pushed above your elbows while working with food. Hair must be completely covered, including ponytails and bangs. Hairnets are provided, though you are welcome to bring a hat. No bracelets, watches or dangly earrings can be worn.
God's Love is closed on Saturdays.
Yes! The holidays are our busiest time of the year and we need extra help in just about every area. For more information on holiday volunteering, click here. Our onsite opportunities for Thanksgiving fill up quickly, so if you're interested, get in touch as soon as possible. You can contact the Volunteer Department at 212.294.8158 or volunteer@glwd.org to get involved.
We have several special events on the weekends throughout the year that require extra volunteers. These events include making lunches for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in October, assembling emergency kits for our clients in June and December and preparing our Thanksgiving gift baskets. If you are interested in participating in these special one-time events, click here for more information.
Kitchen, meal packaging, office and walking delivery volunteers are asked to make a commitment of one shift a week for at least 3 months. Van assisting is available on a weekly, one-time or sporadic basis.
No prior experience is needed to volunteer. You will receive a training and orientation at the beginning of your first shift.
Yes! All of our one-time shift opportunities are available to view and sign-up for here. Please note we rely very much on our volunteers so if you need to cancel, let us know in advance so we can find a replacement for you.
