Our Nutrition Services Department offers a variety of services to individuals and to the public.
The Nutrition Services Department provides Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) to clients living with serious illnesses. Our team of Registered Dietitian Nutritionists works with clients to develop unique nutrition plans to help manage their illnesses, medication side effects and promote wellness. Our education materials are culturally appropriate and reinforce counseling sessions.
The Nutrition Services Department conducts nutrition presentations and cooking demonstrations at organizations throughout the community. Topics are tailored to the specific needs of the group requesting our services. Examples include: food safety, nutrition and liver health, eating on a limited budget, managing the side effects of chemotherapy, meal planning with diabetes, and HIV over fifty.
Additionally, our industry-leading collection of nutrition publications is distributed to individuals and to organizations throughout the United States and worldwide. Our Registered Dietitians work with our Executive Chef to create a health supportive menu to meet the nutritional needs of people living with serious illnesses. Clients and their caregivers discuss specific requirements with a God's Love dietitian, who individualizes the menu as appropriate. Modifications are made based on medical diagnoses and support symptom management. Texture modified meals (minced or pureed foods) are also available for people who are experiencing swallowing or chewing difficulties. Every week, clients and their dependent children each receive ten well-balanced meals that are prepared in our professional kitchen by staff, along with the help of many volunteers. In addition to our nutritious meals, continuous nutrition counseling and education are provided.
Grocery bags are designed to provide medically stable clients with HIV/AIDS with one meal a day for a five-day period. Each week, bags containing nutritious non-perishable items along with local fresh vegetables, are delivered to clients' homes. The Nutrition Services Department adds a "Recipe of the Week" that utilizes the contents of the grocery bag. Clients also receive nutritional counseling and on-going nutrition education.
