Every day at God's Love We Deliver, we rely on an army of dedicated volunteers to make sure that every carrot is chopped, every client's question is answered and every meal is packaged and delivered with love. There are some particular days throughout the year though that we need even more help for holidays and special projects.
These are great opportunities for families and corporate groups, as many of these can accommodate children and large teams. If you have any questions about these volunteer events, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or 212.294.8158.
On Thanksgiving 2017 we home-delivered more than 5,000 healthy and delicious holiday meals to our clients, their children and senior caregivers, and their guests, so that no one has to spend the holiday alone. Thank you to our amazing volunteers for helping us cook and deliver this record number of holiday meals, and check out photos from the day here.
Twice a year, God's Love provides its clients with emergency kits of non-perishable goods in the rare event that we are unable to deliver to them due to weather, van trouble, etc. The winter emergency meal kit assembly project takes place in December and the summer emergency meal kit project is held in June. Volunteers are needed to help us assemble and package the boxes for delivery to our clients. View pictures from our last event here.
The Avon Foundation has been a wonderful supporter of God's Love over the years, donating more than $1 million for our services as well as countless volunteer hours. To show our gratitude, we host a cheering station and encourage walkers to sign a special banner. We also prepare the lunches for the walkers and crew at the Closing Ceremony. And, of course, we give them Chuck's delicious brownies! Email us at email@example.com to get involved. View pictures from our last Avon weekend here.
We believe what makes God's Love so special is the personal touch we add to every meal. This includes special meals on holidays and a personalized cake for each client on his or her birthday. To accompany the cake, we include birthday cards and to accompany our holiday meals, we package them in decorated holiday bags, all made by local elementary and high school students. If you are interested in getting your child, classroom, afterschool program or scout troop involved in this project, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or 212.294.8158.
One of the best features of our new building is our rooftop herb garden. Our volunteer gardeners help plant and maintain the beds. Email us for more information.
