About the Role
The Dispatch Associate role assists the Manager of Delivery Operations in the overall function of the Delivery Operations, ensuring that the team is supported in delivering meals to our clients. This role plays a key function in the tracking of all deliveries and routes from start to completion via phone and through our fleet management applications. In support of our delivery team, the Dispatch Associate assists with the daily dispatch logistics, helping to identify and solve any issues with drivers on the road in real time. In order to ensure coverage across the team, the Dispatch Associate also serves as a backup driver when the need arrives, including for a twenth eight foot box truck for meal transportation between our facilities and overall delivery support. This includes helping to assemble and distribute all the driver route paperwork for the next day. As our delivery team is supported by volunteers who conduct deliveries, the Disptach Associate will coordinate with volunteers for the delivery of meals.
This position is expected to support Delivery Operations between the hours of 8AM to 4PM but at times may require flexiblity depending on the departmental needs.
Position Objectives and Expectations
- Works with Delivery Operations teams to assist with driver pack out in the morning to ensure the drivers are prepared to complete deliveries daily.
- Communicates via telephone and email with colleagues and clients regarding delivery operations and supports by troubleshooting real time issues, providing front line customer service to clients calling regarding their delivery.
- Track delivery drivers throughout the day via our fleet management systems and assist when needed with directions, entry instructions, or any other issues that may affect delivery status.
- Work with and assist volunteers conducting deliveries from Soho location.
- Maintain communication with Neighborhood Meal Distribution Centers (NMDCs) and track, reports, and follow up on NMDC deliveries status daily.
- Updates delivery status in our client tracking system to ensure the accurate reporting of client delivery information.
- Maintain communication between departments on the status of client and delivery information.
- Acts as backup driver as needed, including operating a 28-foot box truck for deliveries, transfers, and other operational support functions.
- Maintains a valid NYS Driver’s License and CDL Class B license with a clean driving record.
- Support daily Delivery operations needs across multiple locations, through driver support, meal transfer support, and additional duties depending on organizational needs as we grow to serve more clients.
- Develop a deep understanding of God’s Love routing needs and support the basics of routing to assist the Router Dispatcher when necessary with any operational needs.

- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Previous experience working in Dispatch or transportation industry. Food industry experience preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years commercial driving experience operating box trucks or similar commercial vehicles.
- Valid CDL Class B license required with acceptable driving record.
- Ability and willingness to safely operate a 28-foot box truck as a backup driver when needed.
- Knowledge of the NY Tri-State Area.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively internally and externally.
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft 365.
- Ability to demonstrate good judgment.
- Ability to problem-solve and make sound decisions promptly.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
