Deliver Meals with God’s Love We Deliver on Thanksgiving Morning
Organization Seeks Volunteer with Vehicles to Help Deliver a Record Number of Holiday Feasts
New York, NY (October 27) –As the holiday season approaches, God’s Love We Deliver is seeking volunteers to help deliver Thanksgiving feasts to their clients, their families and guests on Thanksgiving morning, November 26. With a 30% increase in clients during the pandemic in 2020, God’s Love will be cooking and delivering a record number of meals for the holidays and are looking for volunteers with their own vehicles to pick up meals from distribution centers located in each borough of NYC and deliver them directly to clients’ homes.
Cooking and home-delivering medically tailored meals for the most vulnerable people in NYC is more important than ever during the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic. All of the clients of God’s Love We Deliver are living with one or more underlying conditions such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, HIV, or renal disease and the majority of their clients are seniors — many of whom live alone — so their home-delivered meals are critical to their well-being. Without God’s Love We Deliver, many of these clients would not have a nutritious, festive Thanksgiving meal.
As part of their ongoing commitment to the community, God’s Love is taking extra care to make certain that each volunteer experience is joyful and safe. This means taking all COVID-19 health and safety precautions, including volunteers wearing masks while at the distribution center and when delivering meals to a client’s door, practicing social distancing during meal pickup and during meal deliveries, and ensuring all deliveries will be contactless.
“Thanksgiving is a very special day at God’s Love,” says Yolanda Deceus, Director of Volunteer Services. “While God’s Love has worked as an Essential Services Provider during COVID-19, we are determined to deliver another essential thing to our clients: holiday cheer. We love to see our community come together in celebration to help our neighbors in need, and we are especially excited to make this year’s holiday possible for our clients.”
