This summer will be like no other in New York City as extreme heat and humidity exacerbate the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. With highs in the upper-90’s, the combination of heat and humidity will increase the risk for heat-related health issues, especially for the elderly and those with chronic health problems, such as lung and heart disease.
Our clients are particularly vulnerable during hot summers because they are at risk for dehydration, heat exhaustion, and heat-stroke. And there is little chance of relief because the coronavirus prevents visits to cooling centers or simply going outside.
