Alzheimer’s Association – works on a global, national and local level to enhance care and support for all those affected by Alzheimer’s and related dementias. Local chapters can be located through the national website.
Alzheimer’s Foundation of America – the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America is to provide optimal care and services to individuals confronting dementia, and to their caregivers and families through member organizations. Their website provides information about their services, publications, membership, care giving tips, and events.
CaringKind – provides free information, assistance and support for those with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. CaringKind is NYC’s leading expert on Alzheimer’s and dementia care.

Cancer

Cancer Information Service – a program if the National Cancer Institute that provides the latest cancer information to patients, their families, the public and health professionals.
American Institute for Cancer Research – a comprehensive resource provides information, education and recipes for patients, survivors and health professionals.
American Cancer Society – offers guidance, support and information regarding cancer prevention and treatment, research and volunteering in the community.
CancerCare – CancerCare’s professional oncology social workers provide free emotional and practical support for people with cancer, caregivers, loved ones and the bereaved. Services include counseling, support groups, educational workshops, financial assitance and publications.
Support for People with Oral and Head and Neck Cancer (SPOHNC) – dedicated to raising awareness and meeting the needs of oral and head and neck cancer patients through its resources and publications.
Cook for Your Life –  a free cooking website that serves cancer patients, survivors and their families. Their website provides users with easy-to-make, healthy recipes, instructional videos and informative articles. They are the only cooking website with a unique search tool to help users find recipes to suit their needs as they go through the rigors of cancer treatment. National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship – provides patient education information and advocates for better cancer treatments and services.
Prostate Cancer Foundation – provides information for patients and caregivers on prostate cancer, treatments and current research.
Tell Every Amazing Lady About Ovarian Cancer Louisa M. McGregor Ovarian Cancer Foundation (T.E.A.L.) – promotes public awareness and education of the signs, symptoms and risk factors of Ovarian Cancer, while providing support to survivors and raising funds for research in order to find the cure for Ovarian Cancer. ®T.E.A.L. also offers free workshops to survivors, their families, and other members of the public at their Community Center in Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn.

Caregiving

Caregiver SOS – provides free tele-learning sessions for family caregivers on a variety of important topics related to caring for a loved one. Social connection to other caregivers is fostered through various social networking sites.
Caregiver Action Network – connects caregivers with valuable resources, advice from caregiver voices, peer support, care giving information, and acts as an advocate for caregivers free of charge.
Eldercare Locator – a public service of the U.S. Administration on Aging.  It is a nationwide service that connects older Americans and their caregivers with information on Senior Services.
Family Caregiving Alliance – a public voice for caregivers, illuminating the daily challenges they face, offering them the assistance they so deserve, and championing their cause through education, services, research and advocacy.

General Nutrition

Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics –  the Academy’s website is a great resource for nutrition information and can help you to find a Registered Dietitian in your area.
Kids Eat Right – info on food, cooking, nutrition and physical activity for all age groups – baby through teen! With plenty of practical tips for both parents and kids.
Let’s Move! – launched by First Lady Michelle Obama, Let’s Move! is America’s move to raise a healthier generation of Kids. It is dedicated to overcoming the challenge of childhood obesity by putting children on the path to a healthier lifestyle.

Government

New York State Department of Health – their website contains information on many health topics. This website offers information in both English and Spanish.
New York City Department of Health & Mental Hygiene – for assorted health and wellness information for New Yorkers
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) – for information on a variety of health and safety topics. Information is available in Spanish and many other languages.

Office of Dietary Supplements, National Institutes of Health – The mission of the Office of Dietary Supplements at the National Institutes of Health is to strengthen knowledge and understanding of dietary supplements by evaluating scientific information, stimulating and supporting research, disseminating research results, and educating the public to foster an enhanced quality of life and health for the U.S. population. The site is a good resource for anyone who has questions about dietary supplements.

HIV/AIDS

Multiple Sclerosis

National MS Society – a collective of passionate individuals who want to do something about MS now—to move together toward a world free of multiple sclerosis. Their website provides information about MS, living with MS, current research and to locate a local chapter.
Multiple Sclerosis Foundation – concerned with the physical, emotional, and social impact on people diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and their families. MSF strives to ensure the best quality of daily life for those coping with MS through implementation of an extensive array of patient services.

Parkinson’s

Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research –  dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson’s disease through an aggressively funded research agenda and to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson’s today. Their website provides information about understanding Parkinson’s, breaking research updates, getting involved with Team Fox, and tools and resources for researchers.

Food Safety
