To officially kick off the Stephen Gaynor School Week of Service, students assembled to learn about God’s Love and the importance of giving back. Students heard from a panel of speakers including longtime volunteer and former God’s Love Board Chair, Michael Sennott. He proudly introduced his grandson, Ronan Sennott, a Stephen Gaynor alumnus who has been leading volunteer efforts with God’s Love through his current high school’s community service club. Ronan spoke passionately about how volunteering has impacted him and enriched his school experience. After seeing how God’s Love supports New Yorkers living with illness, students and parents came together to create heartfelt cards for our clients. They used crayons, markers, stamps, and more to make beautiful Valentine’s Day, birthday, and thinking of you cards for our neighbors in need.
The Gaynor community then took their involvement a step further by coming in for volunteer shifts throughout the week. On any given day you could find students completing walking deliveries and preparing herbs in our kitchen. Clusters of Gaynor students and chaperones helped assemble breakfast kits for our clients’ children and lent a helping hand in our bakery. Students learned about food insecurity, volunteerism, and experienced what goes into making a whopping 12,000 meals a day.
Thank you for bringing so much heart and enthusiasm to our building. We are grateful you chose to partner with God’s Love for a fun and philanthropic week!
