On Tuesday, December 1st, God’s Love We Deliver and Michael Kors hosted the annual Golden Heart Awards via a virtual program featuring an impressive lineup of celebrity appearances and performances.
The gala, which was held on World AIDS Day, coincided with God’s Love’s 35th anniversary and honored our devoted frontline workers, who never faltered or stopped services throughout COVID-19.
This year’s virtual event, hosted by comedian Amber Ruffin, featured a handful of original skits and performances by some of the brightest stars of Broadway and Hollywood. To get the night started, Michael Kors held “auditions” for the Golden Heart Awards in which Iman, Sarah Paulson, Audra McDonald, Seth Meyers, Kate Hudson, Alan Cumming, Beanie Feldstein, Laura Benanti, Jane Krakowski, Naomi Watts, Gabrielle Union, Kaia Gerber, Savannah Guthrie, Kelly Ripa, Ashley Graham, Kaia Gerber and Bella Hadid tried out for leading roles. Kors also took part in a virtual cake-decorating class taught by celebrity pastry chef Zac Young.
Music was central to the festivities, with guests treated to a medley of songs celebrating New York City performed by Broadway stars Aaron Tveit, Javier Munoz, Lena Hall, Jarrod Spector and Alex Newell. The rousing finale featured the original cast of RENT, including Idina Menzel, Anthony Rapp, Adam Pascal and Taye Diggs, performing the iconic song “Seasons of Love” from the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical. Prior to the event’s start, attendees received a box of gourmet treats curated by chef Mike Anthony of Gramercy Tavern to be enjoyed at home during the program. Of course, the meal ended with Chuck’s Famous Brownie!
