What a wonderful Avon weekend! For the past few years, God’s Love We Deliver has prepared the lunches for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer participants as well as set up a cheering station to show our appreciation for all the wonderful support the Avon Foundation gives us. While it’s always a lot of hard work, requiring the help of many staff and volunteers over several days, it remains one of our favorite projects of the fall season.
Starting with chopping vegetables for the sandwiches last week to handing out the lunches on Sunday to the walkers, we prepared and packaged thousands of lunches! And on Saturday morning, our Cheering Station was a big hit with all the walkers as we handed out Chuck the Baker’s delicious brownies and encouraged them to sign the banner that would be used in the Closing Ceremony. We Instagrammed a whole bunch of photos and even Instagrammed a video or two!
God’s Love received $150,000 to provide nutritious meals to breast cancer patients and their families. God’s Love President & CEO President Karen Pearl accepted the award.
“It’s an honor to be partners with the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer,” said Karen Pearl. “Every year the walkers,
crew and staff show how much of an impact they can have on those living with breast cancer through this walk.
This year, with this generous grant, we will be able to provide people living with breast cancer and their children
and senior caregivers the nourishment they require to get through difficult treatments and regain their strength.
We are proud and honored to be part of such a great event for such an important cause.”
In our Facebook album, you’ll see our kitchen prep photos, Cheering Station photos, and great shots from the Closing Ceremony on Sunday!
Congratulations to all the walkers, crew and staff who made this such a special weekend!
