It’s the busiest time of the year at God’s Love We Deliver and this past weekend was no exception. We started off on Friday night with a crew from Credit Suisse helping us set up for our Thanksgiving Basket Day. Led by our longtime Tuesday night volunteer Raj Singh, this amazing group of 10 volunteers loaded and unloaded boxes and boxes of items for our baskets and left everything spotless and organized. This was their 8th year helping with this project and we look forward to many more!
The next day, we had a group of over 80 volunteers give up their Saturday morning to fill the 1,850 holiday baskets, decorate the delivery bags and even help prep for the Race to Deliver. It was a huge project, but everyone came ready to work and with an amazing holiday spirit. Whether it was the strong coffee or the promise of pizza at the end, we powered through everything and finished on time (even though we did 500 more baskets than last year!). Thanks to all our volunteers, including groups from the Avon Foundation, Legal Marketing Association, FactSet, Girl Scout Troop 1331, Pretzel Crisps and Willis for helping us make it happen!
And as if that wasn’t enough for a weekend, we also hosted our 17th Annual Race to Deliver on Sunday morning! Over 5,000 participants joined us for a gorgeous day in the park to run or walk for God’s Love We Deliver. To date, this year’s race has raised over $358,000! BUT while the race may be over, there is still time to donate to your favorite team or individual until December 20 – www.racetodeliver.org! Thanks to everyone who volunteered, donated or participated in this year’s race. As always, you made it such a fun day!
And now… on to Thanksgiving!
