Celebrating National Volunteer Week

Dear God’s Love We Deliver Community,

This week is National Volunteer Week, and it is my great pleasure to recognize and thank all of our terrific volunteers for their extraordinary work. Each and every one of our volunteers is integral to achieving our important mission. Without them, we would not be able to cook and home deliver meals to so many thousands of our neighbors in need.

Since 1985, God’s Love has been cooking and delivering the tailored, nutritious meals our clients so urgently require. From the beginning, we recognized the power of the tremendous energy our volunteers bring to our work, and today, we are proud and humbled to have the help of more than 14,000 individuals who give their hearts, time and talent to God’s Love every year.

This year, as we celebrate National Volunteer Week, we want to say a heartfelt thank you to every volunteer. We thank them for their gifts of time, hard work, and love.

Whether they volunteer in the kitchen, meal packaging, as a van assistant, or in an office role, each one of our volunteers is a critical part of our vibrant community, making a tremendous difference in the lives of our neighbors who are too sick to shop or cook for themselves and their families.

Our volunteers come from every borough of New York City, New Jersey, many other states and even the world. They come individually and in groups representing 750 corporations and community organizations.

And, the work of our volunteers really adds up! Last year, our volunteers contributed more than 127,000 hours of their time to God’s Love, and together with our staff:

• Cooked, packaged, and delivered more than 1.8 million nutritious meals
• Managed over 105,000 calls from clients
• Rang over 250,000 doorbells
• Supported more than 3,500 projects

This week and every week, we honor our volunteers and thank them for their exceptional service and dedication. We are grateful for their gifts of time and heart and thank them for choosing to make God’s Love a significant part of their lives. It is because of our volunteers that we can accomplish so much for so many of our most vulnerable neighbors.
