Suzy Sobel has been a cherished part of the God’s Love We Deliver family for two decades, and this year we are thrilled to celebrate an extraordinary milestone—her 90th birthday. For 20 years, Suzy has shown up with dedication, warmth, and unwavering generosity, giving her time as both a volunteer and a donor to help ensure that people living with serious illness receive the nourishing meals they need.
Anyone who has ever joined the Wednesday 6:30 AM Kitchen crew knows that Suzy is truly the sweetheart of the morning. While most of the city is still waking up, Suzy arrives ready to work, bringing with her an infectious spirit and a genuine joy for helping others. She greets everyone with a smile, always has a kind word to share, and reminds us that compassion is as important an ingredient as anything we cook.
Recently, Suzy’s fellow volunteers gathered to celebrate her remarkable 90 years with a joyful birthday party. As a special tribute, the team presented her with a “Tile for Love,” which will be installed in the God’s Love We Deliver kitchen—a lasting symbol of her kindness, generosity, and enduring impact on the community.
Suzy is, quite simply, all things good. Her presence brightens every shift, her commitment inspires everyone around her, and her legacy of service continues to nourish both body and spirit. We are endlessly grateful for Suzy Sobel and the love she brings to our kitchen each and every Wednesday morning.
