While we certainly don’t play favorites with our volunteers, there is one particular volunteer who’s in a class of his own. Hang out around God’s Love long enough, and you will probably have the pleasure of meeting Tat Leung. Our beloved kitchen volunteer Tat has recently reached a significant milestone which no one else has before – 20,000 hours of volunteer service! Since 1996, Tat has spent much of his time here at God’s Love, chopping onions, scooping cake batter, cutting brownies and just about anything else that needed to be done. Tat is dedicated, hard-working, thoughtful, kind and fun-loving. He is truly a special person who embodies what it means to be a volunteer.
To recognize all of Tat’s hard work and this incredible milestone, we recently surprised him with a party to celebrate. He was presented with a certificate acknowledging his hours of service, a hardcover book with photos of his time here, a poster signed with sweet messages from his fellow volunteers and of course, his favorite treat, ice cream cake! In his time here, Tat has touched so many lives – staff, volunteers and clients – and we feel incredibly lucky to have him in our volunteer family. Thanks for all you do, Tat – here’s to 20,000 more!
