Congressman Jim McGovern Volunteers and Talks #FoodIsMedicine
On Monday, June 7, Rep. Jim McGovern of Massachusetts, Chair of the Committee on Rules in the House and Co-Chair of the House Hunger Caucus visited God’s Love for a tour and a volunteer shift.
Congressman McGovern is a huge champion of the work we do at the national level, having authored and introduced H.R. 6774 The Medically Tailored Home-Delivered Meal Demonstration Pilot Act of 2020 last year – the first ever federal bill focused exclusively on expanding access to MTM. Mr. McGovern visited as part of the Rules Committee’s efforts to craft a plan to end hunger in America. The Congressman toured our kitchen and other areas of God’s Love, visiting with staff and volunteers and learned how our impressive 2.5 million meal a year operation is run. We were thrilled that he capped his tour with a volunteer shift in the kitchen with our President & CEO, Karen Pearl.
We are grateful to the Congressman for his ongoing support and great efforts to amplify our work.
