Disco Friday Takeover at God’s Love

At God’s Love, we are extremely grateful for our supporters who manage to come up with unique ways to highlight our work serving New Yorkers living with illness. A few weeks ago, Cindy Rachlin chose to share our mission with her network by including God’s Love in her Disco Friday campaign. Every Friday, Cindy posts a video on social media singing, dancing, and adlibbing her own lyrics to a classic disco song.

Cindy’s passion for disco began in the 70s at the height of the disco era. She is part of a generation whose love for disco began early on and continues with them throughout their lives. One day, Cindy was gifted a miniature boombox that connects to her phone and the idea for Disco Friday was born. Cindy began using the boombox to play music at work and before you know it, she was singing, dancing, and posting weekly Disco Friday videos to Facebook.

Cindy was first introduced to God’s Love through her employer, Douglas Elliman. But her devotion to our mission blossomed when she met Director of Development, Stephen Covello. Cindy says Stephen “had her at hello.” After a single conversation with Stephen, Cindy fell in love with our core values and began volunteering. She most enjoys delivering food to clients’ apartments because she sees first-hand how thrilled each client is to receive their meals and a kind word. These volunteer experiences have only deepened her appreciation for God’s Love. Whether it’s by dancing, donating, or volunteering, we are grateful to Cindy for her enthusiastic support of our organization.
