In his career spanning more than 30 years, designer Michael Kors has been passionately involved in numerous philanthropic endeavours. In July he elevated that commitment by devoting the resources of his company to our clients, our mission and our agency here at God’s Love We Deliver. We named July “Michael Kors Month” in honor of our wonderful friend’s long-standing benevolence and increased support. A native to New York, Michael Kors has been committed to God’s Love We Deliver for over twenty years. In October, because of his long term commitment and work with the organization, we will honor him with the 2012 Golden Heart Award for Lifetime Achievement.

Starting July 9, employees of Michael Kors had the opportunity to volunteer at God’s Love during their normal workday. Drawn from a workforce of just over 400 employees in the New York and New Jersey corporate offices, the volunteers assisted in preparing meals in our kitchen. Other Kors volunteers delivered meals to our clients.

“God’s Love does a phenomenal job of feeding those who are too sick to shop or cook for themselves,” says Kors. “I can’t think of a worthier organization to collaborate with.”

To commemorate the occasion a Michael Kors banner was raised to the top of our building on the corner of Spring Street and Sixth Avenue in Manhattan. As part of the initiative the designer himself, along with John Idol, President & CEO of Michael Kors, volunteered for kitchen duty along with several team members. We are very much looking forward to October 15, when Kors will be honored at our annual Golden Heart Awards dinner with the 2012 Golden Heart Award for Lifetime Achievement.

“Michael has always been a special friend to God’s Love We Deliver and with Michael Kors Month we were thrilled to show the world just how strong and important this friendship is,” said Karen Pearl, President and CEO of God’s Love We Deliver. “It was absolutely wonderful to have the Michael Kors volunteers in our kitchen, prepping food for their sick New York neighbors and on the roads, delivering meals. We are grateful to Michael and his company for their support. It means so much to so many.”
