The gathering was a moving tribute to Gavin’s generosity, compassion and longtime support for God’s Love We Deliver. It also reflected the heart of our mission: providing medically tailored meals and nutrition counseling to people living with severe and chronic illness.
The afternoon began with the unveiling of a commemorative tile in Gavin’s honor in the God’s Love kitchens. From there, friends and loved ones rolled up their sleeves for volunteer shifts in our kitchen and bakery, helping prepare meals for New Yorkers who are too sick to shop or cook for themselves.
It was a fitting way to celebrate Gavin’s life. He brought warmth, kindness and joy to so many people, and his connection to God’s Love We Deliver was rooted in the same spirit of care and service that defined him so deeply. The event offered a chance not only to remember Gavin, but to carry his example forward through action.
Those who joined us included @SaraBareilles, @Celia Keenan-Bolger, @ErichBergen, @CatherineBrunellPeterson, @Mary-MitchellCampbell, @JohnConlee, @AnneGarefino, @Steven Pasquale, @WillSwenson, @MegToohey, @AlexTempleWard, @PhillipaSoo, @GreyHenson, @AllysonCreel, @AndrewKeenan-Bolger and @JenniferKolb, among others.
Through both the tile dedication and the volunteer service that followed, Gavin’s friends and family honored the values he embodied so naturally: compassion, community and generosity. Their presence was a powerful reminder of the lasting impact one person can have, and of the love that continues to ripple outward in their memory.
At God’s Love We Deliver, we are grateful to have been part of Gavin’s story and honored to celebrate his legacy in a way that reflects who he was so clearly: someone who showed up for others.
