As New York University students return to campus every autumn, devoted volunteers Harriet Duffy and Patrick Maguire eagerly participate in the NYU Service Fair. They aim to introduce students to the incredible volunteer opportunities at God’s Love We Deliver.
This year, I had the privilege of joining them. Alongside Harriet, Patrick, and 100 of our famous God’s Love brownies, we engaged with hundreds of students. It was a successful and enlightening experience, and we are all immensely proud to have been a part of it.
In Patrick’s words, “I attend the student services fair each year to inspire students to volunteer at God’s Love We Deliver. I share my volunteering stories/experiences with students to encourage them to volunteer on one or two of the man shifts available, like kitchen, walking delivery, kitting, or baking. My experiences reassure students that it’s fun, you meet new people, and you work as a team. I also welcome their questions about volunteering at God’s Love.”
In Harriet’s words, “This was my third NYU club fair and the largest. I enjoy speaking about God’s Love, explaining what we are about, and the importance of food supplying healing energy. I feel paying it forward in life is important. I also stress that school comes first and that our organization can fit their academic schedules well as we have many shifts from which to choose.”
A massive shoutout to Harriet and Patrick for their unwavering dedication! Their selfless commitment, spending five hours on their feet, energetically sharing the mission of God’s Love with students, is truly inspiring. Many service-oriented clubs and other nonprofits at the event were equally enthusiastic to learn about our vital work.
