One year ago today, we completed our move into our new home, The Michael Kors Building at God’s Love We Deliver. What a thrilling moment in our organization’s history!
As many of you know, our brand new, state-of-the-art, 9,600 sq. foot kitchen on the second floor has wonderful natural light, and includes four industrial-size refrigerators, three freezers, five blast freezers, five 80-gallon soup kettles, and a waste digester that converts up to 1,000 lbs. of organic food waste into disposable water. In our new building, we are able to more than double the number of meals we cook and deliver!
We spent 22 months working at our temporary Brooklyn location, and we thank every volunteer who joined us there. Our volunteers make it possible for us to keep our services not only going, but growing, and of the highest quality. We cherish their dedication and great spirit, and are full of gratitude for their service.
Every day, more and more sick and hungry New Yorkers reach out to God’s Love looking for help. Our move to The Michael Kors Building allows us to continue to respond to the urgent needs of our clients for years to come. We will provide all those who need us with life-sustaining – and life-affirming – services at no charge and without a waiting list.
This year in our new home, we have continued to grow and serve our neighbors too sick to shop or cook. With your support, we have reached a record number of clients; cooked, packaged and delivered a record number of meals; welcomed more than 10,000 volunteers, and so much more.
We have stayed true to our core principles of never turning any away and never having a waiting list. Most importantly, we have fulfilled our life-sustaining mission by offering our clients the highest quality of service and the most nutritious and delicious meals.
We could not do any of this without our remarkable network of staff, leadership groups, volunteers, and supporters. Your engagement, enthusiasm, caring for our clients, and support of our mission make all of our work possible.
