Thanksgiving Meals for Ali Forney Center

Following a morning delivery of 10,000 meals to clients around the five boroughs, God’s Love We Deliver volunteers and supporters were thrilled to be able to gather and distribute an additional 100 Thanksgiving meals to LGBTQ+ homeless teens from the Ali Forney Center today.

“Thanksgiving is a very special time of year for so many people, and at God’s Love We Deliver we always want to ensure that we are delivering Thanksgiving meals to those who need them,” said Karen Pearl, President & CEO of God’s Love We Deliver. “COVID-19 has presented many obstacles this year, but we know that sharing traditional and delicious Thanksgiving meals, made with love, this holiday with the LGBTQ+ teens at the Ali Forney Center is one way that we can help bring some holiday spirit to our wider community.”

Of the 100 Thanksgiving meals that were delivered on Thanksgiving morning, 80 meals included turkey, while the remaining 20 were vegetarian meals to accommodate different dietary restrictions. The full menu included Pumpkin Bisque Soup, Roast Turkey with Cornbread Stuffing and Gravy, Sweet Potato Mash, Parsnips, Brussels Sprouts, Carrots Pearl Onions, Cranberry Sauce and Apple Crisp. Further, God’s Love is also proud to have served a vegetarian entrée of fall root vegetable casserole.

“We are grateful for the care and generosity of the God’s Love We Deliver family,” said Alexander Roque, President and Executive Director of the Ali Forney Center. “Our work is centered around helping to build community and family for young people who have been denied love by the people who are supposed to love them unconditionally – their parents – and this showing of love helps to demonstrate for our youth that they are worthy of being cared for and worthy of love.”
