This week, God’s Love We Deliver, with generous funding from The M·A·C AIDS Fund, is hosting the 2017 National Symposium for the Food Is Medicine Coalition (FIMC), in Washington D.C. The Symposium brings together members of FIMC from across the nation who provide medically-tailored diets to people who are too sick to shop or cook for themselves. The Symposium is the culmination of a yearlong technical assistance program for medically tailored food and nutrition services agencies – The Advocacy Capacity Building Project – which is designed to advance public policy that supports access to services for people with severe and/or chronic illnesses, to promote research on the efficacy of these services on health outcomes and cost of care, and to share best practices in the provision of medically tailored meals and of nutrition education and counseling.
