The Palette Fund honors the legacy of Rand Harlan Skolnick, philanthropist, community activist and entrepreneur, dedicated to nutrition & wellness, patient navigation and queer youth. The founding of The Palette Fund in 2009 formally continued Rand’s lifelong community and philanthropic work while establishing collaborative grantmaking and programs that value human rights and education. We are inspired by all at The Palette Fund and we are honored to carry on Rand’s pioneering vision.
With wellness at its heart, The Palette Fund educates communities and encourages patients and their caregivers to incorporate health-supportive food as one of their choices in healing.
We are thrilled to announce that God’s Love We Deliver has been awarded a $100,000 grant from The Palette Fund, to help fund our “food as medicine” initiative. The Palette Fund will support the work of our Nutrition Services Department to further develop disease-specific nutrition workshops and publications for individuals who lack access to nutrition education. The grant will also underwrite the cost of developing Spanish, Creole and Russian language versions of our outreach materials for some of the hardest to reach communities in New York City.
We are serving more clients than at any other time in our history, cooking and delivering 4,000 meals every weekday. As an increasing number of people with even more specialized nutritional needs come to us for support, these clients require enhanced nutrition counseling and education, specific to their medical conditions.
We express our deepest gratitude at this time for this timely and generous grant, as The Palette Fund will help carry our message of “food as medicine,” and further our closely aligned missions to improve the health and well-being of men, women and children living with severe illnesses.
