Young Heart CHARMS Us with Her Bracelet-Making Fundraising!
When Chloe, 8, passed a lemonade stand in her neighborhood that was selling refreshing beverages to benefit a local animal shelter, she had an idea.
Why not sell the bracelets I make with my friend for the benefit of God’s Love We Deliver?
Under the watchful eye of Chloe’s mom Joy, the two girls got to work. Twisting colorful bands of rubber into fashionable wristwear, they quickly built up a supply to sell to their friends and families. For $1 apiece, you could be the new owner of a customized bracelet with beads and charms while knowing that your dollar was heading directly to God’s Love We Deliver!
The girls estimate they made over 50 bracelets. When asked if she was nervous about talking to strangers, Chloe says, “No! Because I had my friend with me.” They explained to passers-by that the proceeds would be going to God’s Love We Deliver, which cooks and delivers meals to people affected by serious illnesses.
All told, the girls raised $100.00 for God’s Love! This will offset the cost of 10 medically tailored meals for our clients around NYC.
Chloe and her mom Joy visited us last week to hand the earnings to Chief Philanthropy Officer Stephen Covello. On top of that, they volunteered for a shift in the kitchen, getting to see first-hand where Chloe’s hard-earned donation will be used.
When asked about how it felt to hit $100 in sales, Chloe replied:
“I felt like I accomplished something that helps other people.”
