More than 1,000 volunteers joined us this December to help us prepare and deliver a record-breaking 8,000 Winter Feast meals for people living with HIV, cancer and other life-altering illnesses in the New York City metropolitan area. Every client received a guest meal, so that they could invite a friend to spend the holiday with them. Each client and child on our program also received a gift and a homemade card to help make the holidays special. Our friends at Sabra also donated 4,000 containers of hummus so each household could enjoy this delicious, protein-filled treat.
On the menu for this year’s Winter Feast: corn chowder, entree, and holiday cookie. Entrees were: braised beef with cherries, salmon with capers relish, or a portobello mushroom casserole.
Thank you to everyone who these meals possible as we worked together to #CelebrateWithAPlate!
Here’s what it took to make our Winter Feast meal:
We also minced and pureed our Winter Feast meals for clients whose medical conditions require those modifications.
Winter Feast at God’s Love is a huge community effort and we could not do it without our volunteers and supporters. Thank you and happy holidays from all of us at God’s Love!
