From Culinary Council Cook to Race Captain

Liz Alpern’s entire career has been centered around the powerful experience of nourishing others and being nourished in return. It’s a cycle that she believes God’s Love does so well, to scale, and with joy! When the opportunity arose to join the God’s Love Culinary Council, she knew it was a perfect fit. Since then, her involvement at God’s Love has ranged from volunteering in the kitchen, to hosting a Queer Soup Night fundraiser at our Michael Kors building, and so much more.

Last year, Liz decided to sign up for the Race to Deliver and get involved in a way that was outside her comfort zone. Despite initially feeling intimidated about running four miles around the park, Liz showed up on race day and never looked back. In her own words:

“I had never run a race before. It was early in the morning. I was very pregnant! But I had SO much fun. Once the race began, I was filled with energy and excitement. It was a gorgeous day in a gorgeous park. I couldn't believe how meaningful and energizing it was run for this organization I love so much." -Liz

After feeling so inspired last year, Liz decided to lead the charge and create a Culinary Council team! Liz is especially excited to run 9 months postpartum and to have her baby on the sidelines cheering her on! To join Liz and thousands of participants for this 4-mile run/walk in Central Park on November 20, register for the Race to Deliver. If you can’t make it to the park, consider donating to the Culinary Council Team.
