God’s Love We Deliver Visits Washington, D.C. to Advocate for the MTM Bill

On November 19, God’s Love We Deliver traveled to Washington, D.C. for a powerful day of advocacy on Capitol Hill. Led by Terrence Meck, President & CEO; Eric Rochman, Chief Strategy and Growth Officer; and Camila Gomez, Manager of Policy & Advocacy, our team was joined by dedicated members of our Board of Directors, Board of Trustees, and the genLOVE Executive Committee . Together, we spent the day elevating the lifesaving impact of medically tailored meals and urging federal support for the Medically Tailored Meals (MTM) Pilot Program Bill, H.R. 5439.

Reintroduced in September during the 119th Congress, H.R. 5439 would create a pilot program within Medicare to test the efficacy and cost-efficiency of medically tailored meals for older adults and individuals with disabilities who live with severe or chronic illnesses and experience frequent hospitalizations. This legislation represents a critical step toward establishing a widespread and evidence-based understanding of how medically tailored meals improve health outcomes and drive meaningful cost savings in our healthcare system.

Throughout the day, we met with Members of Congress and staff in the offices of Congressmembers Troy Carter, Yvette Clarke, Dan Goldman, Andrew Garbarino, Nick LaLota, Mike Lawler, Nick Langworthy, Tom Suozzi, Claudia Tenney, and Ritchie Torres. We expressed deep gratitude for our longstanding champions and forged new connections as we asked for their support.

Our message was clear: medically tailored meals help older adults age in place, rather than entering long-term care facilities.

The bill is cost-neutral to implement and has the potential to save significant healthcare dollars as preventable hospitalizations decline. Most importantly, this pilot would help serve some of the nearly 69 million Americans who rely on Medicare, many of whom face complex health challenges that make access to nutritious, medically appropriate meals essential.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the members of our volunteer leadership boards who joined us: Board of Directors Vice Chair Michael Sennott, Board members David Djaha and Isa Watson, Board of Trustees member Tricia Roarty, and genLOVE Executive Committee member Dimitri Moise. Their support and passion for our mission strengthen every step of our advocacy.

As we reflect on a successful Hill Day, we remain steadfast in our belief that every person, regardless of age, income, or health status, deserves access to medically tailored meals. This pilot program has the potential to transform lives, support healthier communities, and create a more equitable healthcare system across America. God’s Love We Deliver is proud to champion this effort in Washington and beyond.
