Families nourish. Just ask Tricia Leid, Chief Operating Officer at God’s Love We Deliver. When she was twenty years old, Tricia lost her mother to cancer, and her father fell ill with cancer a few years later. “Seeing him in pain was one of the hardest experiences of my life,” she says.
Tricia was worried and overwhelmed, but her aunt delivered healthy meals every day to their house while Tricia cared for her ailing father. Tricia says that amid so much uncertainty, having a warm, nourishing meal from her aunt “was a weight lifted off my shoulders.”
Now, as Chief Operating Officer at God’s Love, Tricia oversees the distribution of more than 5 million meals annually for thousands of New Yorkers who are too sick to shop or cook for themselves. She remembers how her parents “taught me, charity first. Every day I feel proud, knowing they would be very happy for me, doing this type of work. This is where I was meant to be.”
Tricia’s family relied on each other to stay nourished during difficult times, and vulnerable New Yorkers rely on God’s Love for nourishment at the holidays and throughout the year. Today, on Giving Tuesday, and through December 9, every gift you make will be matched, and deliver twice the meals for your neighbors in need.
