We’ve Cut the Ribbon! Now, 40 FORWARD!

Last night, actor and activist Rosie Perez joined Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso, Assemblymember Marcela Mitaynes, God’s Love We Deliver volunteer leadership, 40 FORWARD Campaign leadership, staff, volunteers, and supporters to celebrate the ribbon cutting of our new meal distribution center at God’s Love We Deliver @ Liberty BKLYN. It meant so much to welcome our community into the space and to share such a joyful, hopeful moment together!

Liberty BKLYN marks the beginning of an historic new chapter for our organization—one that will allow us to reach more neighbors, deliver more medically tailored meals, and meet the growing needs of people living with serious illness across New York City. Our ribbon cutting celebration helped bring that moment to life. We began the evening with Rosie, Board members, and donors packing out our medically tailored meals alongside volunteers and with our Fulfillment team.

Terrence Meck makes remarks

After volunteering, our group moved to our stage for remarks and the ribbon cutting. President & CEO Terrence Meck welcomed guests and spoke to the significance of Liberty BKLYN in the history and future of God’s Love We Deliver. Terrence shared:

“Forty years ago, our founder, Ganga Stone, delivered a single meal to a man dying of AIDS. That simple compassion sparked a movement that has nourished New York City ever since.

Today, Liberty BKLYN, our new distribution center, stands as the bridge between where we began and where we are boldly going. With the support of our staff, volunteers, donors, and community, together we are achieving our mission and fueling our future.”

Rosie shared with us,

“I’m proud to support God’s Love We Deliver. When you’re sick, there’s one thing that gets you through the day, and that’s a good meal—because food is medicine.

Now with Liberty BKLYN open, God’s Love and its wonderful volunteers can serve more people throughout the borough, where too many people can’t cook or buy groceries for themselves.”

Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso shared,

“I’m so proud to celebrate the opening of God’s Love We Deliver’s new distribution center in Sunset Park. Food insecurity continues to grow in our city and, with this new facility, God’s Love We Deliver is now able to serve even more tailored meals to vulnerable New Yorkers here in Brooklyn and across the city.

God’s Love We Deliver represents the very best of spreading love the Brooklyn way, and I’m proud to have contributed to the effort to bring this facility to life.”

Our Liberty BKLYN distribution center plays a critical role in meeting rising demand in Brooklyn, where 26% of our 15,000 clients live. The facility streamlines meal preparation, packaging, and delivery, allowing us to serve more people more efficiently while upholding the highest nutritional and medical standards. Liberty BKLYN serves as a bridge between where we began and where we are boldly headed. With 7,000 square feet of expanded freezer and cooler space, the new facility significantly increases our production capacity – enabling us to deliver up to 6.5 million meals annually, a more than 50% increase over the 4 million meals delivered in 2025.

To our 1,000 volunteers who have served in this space since we opened our doors, thank you. To everyone who has already supported tour 40 FORWARD Campaign, thank you. Your generosity has helped us get to this important milestone. While we are now moved in and operational, our campaign continues. We are currently 60% of the way toward our $40 million goal, and support from every donor, at every level – truly matters.

Liberty BKLYN is located at 850 3rd Avenue in Brooklyn and represents a major investment in our future growth and capacity to nourish New Yorkers living with HIV, cancer, heart disease, renal failure, diabetes, and other serious illnesses. Over 1,000 volunteers have already graciously provided God’s Love with 3,800 hours of service in the new Sunset Park location. Just last year, we delivered 58,000 meals to 262 individuals in Sunset Park. We remain deeply excited about God’s Love establishing a physical presence in Brooklyn —especially as it enables us to build upon the 1 million medically tailored meals we provided last year to over 4,000 clients, caregivers, and children throughout the borough.
