Sweet Notes, Sweeter Causes: The Metropolitan Opera House Bake-Off to Benefit God’s Love We Deliver

On December 3, The Metropolitan Opera hosted its company-wide Holiday Bake-Off to benefit God’s Love We Deliver, which they have held for the past several years. Reigning champion soprano Elza van den Heever took home Best in Show, with Best Cake and Audience Favorite going to Loryn Benkowski from the Scenic Design team, Best Cookie going to Colin Miyamoto in Marketing and Communications, and Best Miscellaneous going to Met chorister Mary Noonan. The submissions were judged by an esteemed panel including The New York Times food reporter and columnist Melissa Clark, cookbook author Casey Elsass, celebrity chef Sohla El-Waylly, soprano Leah Hawkins, and restaurateur Marc Murphy.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to The Metropolitan Opera Education Department for hosting such a wonderful event to benefit God’s Love We Deliver. Your commitment to supporting our organization, which nourishes and cares for those in need, is truly inspiring. As we all know, food is love, and your efforts help spread this love to those who need it most.

This bake-off was not only a delicious celebration of creativity and talent but also a fun and exciting way to raise funds for a significant cause. Events like this remind us that bringing people together for a shared purpose can have an incredible impact.

What creative ideas do you have to support those in need? Whether it’s a bake-off, a concert, or another community event, there are countless ways to make a difference. Let’s come together to spread love and nourishment where it’s needed most.
